I've run ultras for 5 years and am excited about running miwok in may. Never run 100k, but I've run 2 50milers and 14 50k or longer. Lot's of mountain running with vert. I mapped out my training and need some help. I have a 50k a month leading up to the race, but I want to run chuckanut 50k 6 weeks before miwok...I was thinking i'd make this a 40+ mile run as my long run, but now I'm thinking that it's too far away from race day and I need to just do it as a 50k and have something else 3 weeks out from miwok? I've messed this up the last 2 years, and peaked too early - feeling efortless on my long runs only to be beat down or out of shape on race day. Also, Miwok is a vert monster and I think my new plan my be to do another 50k with 6-8k of vert 3 weeks out from Miwok. ? Not sure.
Any advice about back to backs or long runs would be great. Never done back to backs...
